Virtual Gratitude Circle

Purpose: To foster connection and mindfulness while creating a supportive community online.

Time: 30 minutes

  1. Gather Your Group: Invite friends or family to join an online video call. You can use platforms like Zoom or Google Meet.
  2. Set the Intention: At the start of the meeting, discuss the purpose of the gathering: To express gratitude and support for one another in a digital space.
  3. Create a Safe Space: Encourage participants to mute their microphones when not speaking to minimize distractions and create an atmosphere of focus and respect. You might also suggest everyone find a quiet, comfortable spot to sit during the session.
  4. Start the Circle: One by one, give each participant the chance to share three things for which they are grateful. They can take their time and go into detail about why those items are meaningful to them.
  5. Mindful Listening: As others share, practice active and mindful listening. Be fully present and avoid distractions from your devices. This helps foster a deeper connection among participants.
  6. Reflection Time: After everyone has shared, take a few moments of silence to reflect on the gratitude expressed. You might encourage participants to consider integrating those feelings of gratitude into their daily lives.
  7. Share a Digital Reminder: After the meeting, consider creating a shared digital space (like a Google Doc, a group chat, or a dedicated social media group) where everyone can continue to share what they’re grateful for throughout the week. This keeps the spirit of the circle alive and reinforces a positive mindset.
