The Individual, Organizational and Societal Ripples of Fetzer’s Sacred-Centered Community
The hypothesis at the core of the Community of Freedom Gathering is playing out: when individuals and communities see the world through a sacred-centered lens, engage in spiritual practices, and cultivate relationships rooted in Love and shared purpose — with self, others, the natural world, and the Sacred — their capacity to support transformation expands. It ripples outward through the self, the community, the organization, and into the world towards shared flourishing.
How inner transformation contributes to organizational and societal change is one of the central questions the COFG’s work invites us to explore. While no single case study can fully answer that question, these findings begin to illuminate how sacred-centered community may cultivate the relationships, capacities, and ways of being that ripple outward into organizations and the broader world.
The Institute’s sacred-centered community invites individuals into a journey of discovery of their spiritual selves. Change then happens at both individual and relational levels, radiating out into the organization and the broader world.Through this inner work, community members come into sacred relationships with their colleagues and generate a heart-centered essence that permeates the organization. Staff are able to “live the work” outside of Fetzer, within their families and other communities. In this way, Fetzer’s Community of Freedom becomes a fractal of the movement for shared flourishing.

This area of the case study includes sub-sections on Individual Impact, Organizational Impact, and Societal Impact. We invite you to download the full report for that robust content.
