“Shared Sacred Story” Podcast, Episode 3: Exploring the Goal of Tantra with Dr. Laura Dunn
In the third episode of Fetzer Institute’s new podcast project, we sit down with Dr. Laura Dunn to delve into her understanding of Nondual Tantric Śaiva traditions.
Dr. Dunn is the director of programs at the Jesuit School of Theology (Berkley) and editor-in-chief of the Journal of Dharma Studies, which focuses on the application of Hindu, Jain, and Buddhist traditions. She also draws on her Native Hawaiian, Chinese, and Jewish backgrounds to present a diverse and informed perspective.
The conversation includes insightful stories, defines Tantra, explores Aloha Aina, and finds the Sacred in the mundane. Dr. Dunn reveals an intricate worldview developed by academic research, deepened by familial connections, and enriched by ancestral homeland and cultural context, all of which can greatly influence an individual’s encounter with the Spiritual.
