Empowering Black Women Leaders Through Spiritual Rest and Justice | Faith Matters Network

Sections

Background

The Faith Matters Network (FMN) is a groundbreaking organization that supports Black women leaders at the intersection of spirituality and social justice. By providing opportunities for rest, healing, and re-energizing, women are empowered to return to their communities with the spiritual fortitude to lead movements for justice and equity.

FMN’s work centers on Womanist wisdom, uplifting the experiences of Black women to create liberation for all.

Initiative Overview

Founded by the Rev. Jen Bailey, Faith Matters Network was born out of the understanding that the emotional and spiritual well-being of Black women in justice movements is often overlooked. We provide a “soft landing” for women leaders, offering cohort experiences, chaplaincy training, and spiritual innovation programs to prevent burnout and keep leaders grounded in their work.

Impact

Over 25,000 leaders have been impacted by our programs, which focus on healing, justice, and community building.

Trained more than 600 chaplains to support social justice movements through our Movement Chaplaincy program.

Awarded over $50,000 in mini-grants to innovative community leaders, enabling them to bring transformative ideas back to their local contexts.

Our programs have created a ripple effect, rejuvenating women leaders who then return to their communities with renewed energy and spiritual grounding.

Conclusion

How Spirituality Makes Our Work Different:

At Faith Matters Network, spirituality is central to our approach. Rooted in Womanist wisdom, we understand that the liberation of Black women leads to the liberation of all.
