Organizational Culture Collaborative

Cultivating a Workplace Rooted in Sacred Love, Belonging, and Spiritual Solutions

At the Fetzer Institute, our Organizational Culture Collaborative brings together staff, leadership, and partners in shared work to nurture a workplace grounded in our values. Together, we shape organizational culture that radiates belonging, trust and sacred love. This strategic initiative unifies our approach across departments, partners and programs, embedding spiritual depth and participatory practices into how we operate and collaborate.

What This Work Looks Like

  • Community of Freedom: Reflecting our founder’s vision, weekly gatherings prioritize spiritual care, personal and communal growth, and mutual understanding. We welcome and create space for every member of our organization to bring their full, authentic selves to work.
  • Co-Creative Learning & Evaluation: We pursue transparency, learning, and shared stewardship through participatory approaches — such as collaboratively designed case studies and reflection sessions — to ensure leadership and staff grow together in trust and mutual accountability.
  • Building Belonging, Bridging Divides: Under the Organizational Culture Collaborative’s leadership, we integrate contemplative and spiritual development practices — and ground our commitments to bridging and belonging — in faith-fluency and relational care.
  • Values-Based Systems Design: From our work on compensation philosophy to policy development and spiritually embodied leadership, we ensure our institutional systems are aligned with our mission. We integrate structures that reflect our commitments to equity, transparency, and sacred love in action.
  • Impact Across Organizing Sectors: This culture-building approach strengthens how we engage with communities both within and beyond our organization — from partners to collaboratives addressing social challenges — ensuring that our internal coherence supports our broader impact.

Why It Matters

  • Spirit and Systems: We believe organizational health requires inner spiritual grounding and external structure to be mutually reinforcing.
  • Authentic Belonging: We build capacity to honor, sustain, and celebrate diverse identities and experiences.
  • Shared Sacred Flourishing: By embodying our values internally, we strengthen our credibility and partnerships externally, advancing our vision for a loving world
