Dr. Jacques Courtejoie: A Life of Compassionate Health Care

Dr. Jacques Courtejoie has been providing health care to the people of Democratic Republic of Congo since 1958.

Now 86 years old, Dr. Courtejoie continues to provide services to the Congolese. This project tells his story as well as that of two close colleagues, Clement Nzungu and Roger Zimuango.

At a primary level, this project has focused on documenting Dr. Courtejoie’s unique life as well as the story of those whom he has directly touched and influenced. At a broader level, it explores the power of love and forgiveness in healthcare, particularly in deeply challenging circumstances.

The project has culminated in a film that will be screened around the world with audiences ranging from clinicians, to pastoral care providers, to leaders in healthcare policy.

This is a project of the Fetzer Advisory Council on Health Professions.
