Nobel Peace Laureates: Rigoberta Menchu Tum on Archbishop Desmond Tutu
Nobel Laureate Rigoberta Menchu Tum describes the compassion that she sees in Archbishop Desmond Tutu. She believes that the youthfulness he still embodies helps him carry the weight of the suffering he has experienced throughout his life.
The Fetzer Institute spent time with Nobel Laureate Rigoberta Menchu Tum in the summer of 2008 at the Peace Jam conference in Los Angeles. Menchu Tum was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1992 in recognition of her work for social justice and ethno-cultural reconciliation based on respect for the rights of indigenous peoples.
