After the Disaster: Rebuilding Communities

After the Disaster: Rebuilding Communities

What is the relationship between a community’s resilience and its ability to copy with a disaster? How can one identify the strengths of a community? How can technology give voice to communities, fostering engagement and resilience in daily life and in responses to disaster?

This publication is the product of the meeting Retrieving the Wisdom of Those in Need: Community Engagement and Healing in Times of Disaster held in partnership with the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, in April of 2011. It is the third in a series of three reports focusing on Revitalizing Community Within and Across Boundaries. Additional titles include Community Resilience: A Cross-Cultural Study and Our Shared Future: Environmental Pathways to Peace.
