GilChrist Retreat Center 56265 Day Rd Three Rivers , MI
This retreat is designed for those who long to fulfill their creative potential. As artists and dreamers of every ilk, we must tend to our bodies and spirits and discover the balance between rest, renewal, play, and creative challenge so that we may tap into and channel something larger than ourselves. This weekend retreat will offer opportunities for truly nurturing and restorative practices to get and keep the creative juices flowing. Offerings will include yoga, meditation, writing and reading, drawing, music and dance, self-care, and time in nature connecting to earth and to self. Come explore what’s possible when you give yourself what you truly need, and leave rejuvenated, with tools to sustain a richly creative life.
About the Facilitator
Marin Heinritz, PhD, E-RYT-500, teaches creative writing, literature, and journalism at Kalamazoo College as well as yoga and barre pilates for Sangha Yoga and Kalamazoo Barre in Kalamazoo. Writing and the body are inextricably linked in her work on the page and in the classroom, and helping others fulfill their creative potential through both endeavors is, for her, a spiritual practice.
The retreat begins in WindHill at 6:30 pm Friday and closes at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday. Early bird registration is $220 before August 1, 2018, and $250 after that. Participants are encouraged to complete a registration form and submit payment early to secure a spot and reserve a GilChrist cabin. Lodging in a private GilChrist cabin, which is really a small home equipped with a complete kitchen, is recommended. The cost for cabin accommodations is $50 per night for single occupancy and payment can be made directly to GilChrist by cash or check. For those staying at GilChrist, cabin check-in is at 4:00 pm Friday and check-out is at 2:00 pm on Sunday. All sessions take place in WindHill, the cozy main building, complete with a fireplace in the great room, loft room for meditation, library, and a full kitchen with tea and coffee service. Individuals are responsible for their own meals.
