This year we celebrate the 46th observance of Earth Day, an occasion that reminds us to walk more lightly on our planet, our home, each and every day. On this Earth Day let us renew our efforts to address climate change and environmental degradation. We have a long way to go to repair the damage done to our miraculous ecosystem, but there is hope. Sometimes we need to be reminded of that.

In that spirit, we offer this 2013 Moyers’ & Co. video of Wendell Berry reading “A Poem on Hope.”

“...Be still and listen to the voices that belong

To the streambanks and the trees and the open fields.

There are songs and sayings that belong to this place,

By which it speaks for itself and no other...”
